Come enjoy the outdoors and make a difference with Heal the Bay’s Stream Team! Heal the Bay is partnering with the Mountains Restoration Trust to restore areas of Malibu Creek State Park.
Invasive plants have negative impacts on natural habitats, so removing them is vital for a healthy watershed. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine while helping remove non-native vegetation in an effort to restore native plants along Malibu Creek and its many tributaries.
- Please wear sturdy shoes
- Bring plenty of water and a snack
- Bring sunscreen/hat
- Be prepared to get dirty
- Gloves and tools will be provided.
Directions: Request a parking pass for the Heal the Bay/Mountains Restoration Trust restoration event at the front gate. We'll meet in the lower parking lot at the picnic tables near the restroom (second big parking lot). If you are coming South on Las Virgenes Road, the park entrance is 0.2 miles south of Mulholland. If you are coming North on Malibu Canyon Road, the park entrance is 1.5 miles north of the crossing with Piuma. There is another entrance for Malibu Creek SP/Tapia south of the main entrance, 0.2 miles north of Piuma-- do not enter here but continue on another 1.3 miles to the main entrance.
All participants must sign liability waiver forms.
This event is open to volunteers age 10 and over. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Those under 18 must have their waiver forms (also available at the event) signed by a parent or guardian.

There is a change in location for the July event. Instead of going to the main Malibu Creek State Park entrance, please go to the Tapia Unit of Malibu Creek State Park. It is also marked with a similar sign that reads Malibu Creek State Park and in smaller letters, Tapia.
Directions: If you are coming south on Las Virgenes Rd., continue past the main park entrance (0.2 miles south of Mulholland) and turn into the Tapia Unit approximately 1.3 miles south of the main park entrance. If you are coming north on Malibu Canyon Rd., the Tapia Unit is approximately 0.2 miles north of Piuma Rd. Turn into the park but do not drive to the gate attendant structure. Turn left immediately, taking a shortcut through a metal yellow gate. Make sure not to drive through the side with the tire spikes! Then drive down to the parking lot directly ahead of you. Signs will be placed to help direct you.
For the May 12th event, there will not be any signs directing you (sorry!) but the meeting spot is the same. Please meet at the lower parking lot by the restrooms and picnic benches. See you tomorrow!
